Aniseed Seed – Organic Whole Seeds
Pimpinella anisum
Digestive Comfort | Bloating & After-Meal Support
Organic Aniseed is a beautifully sweet, aromatic herb traditionally valued for supporting comfortable digestion and easing occasional bloating and digestive discomfort. With its naturally warming character and distinctive liquorice-like flavour, Aniseed has been enjoyed for centuries as a gentle carminative, making it a lovely choice for a soothing herbal infusion after meals.
Traditionally used in both digestive and respiratory herbal preparations, Aniseed is appreciated for its carminative and antispasmodic properties, particularly when digestion feels sluggish or unsettled. Its naturally sweet, comforting flavour also makes it a wonderful addition to herbal tea blends, bringing warmth, balance, and a pleasant aromatic finish to everyday wellness rituals.
Ingredients: Organic Whole Aniseed (Pimpinella anisum).
Net Weight: 50g
Perfect for:
Supporting comfortable digestion after meals
Traditional herbal support for occasional bloating and wind
Encouraging digestive ease and comfort
Adding natural sweetness to herbal tea blends
Enjoying as a warming, aromatic herbal infusion
Brewing Guide
Lightly crush ½–1 teaspoon of Aniseed Seeds to release their natural aromatic oils. Add to a cup (250ml) of freshly boiled water, cover, and steep for 10–15 minutes. Strain and enjoy warm, particularly after meals.
Enjoy another infusion: Your seeds can be steeped again 2–3 times. Simply add fresh hot water and allow a little extra brewing time with each infusion. The flavour may become milder with each steep.
Blending with Other Herbs
Aniseed can be enjoyed on its own or combined with other herbs to create a beautifully aromatic digestive blend. Traditionally, it pairs well with Fennel, Peppermint, Chamomile, and Ginger for digestive comfort, particularly after meals.
Its naturally sweet, liquorice-like flavour also makes it a lovely addition to traditional respiratory blends alongside herbs such as Thyme and Marshmallow, helping soften and balance stronger herbal flavours.
At The Herbary, we can help you explore herbal combinations suited to your individual wellbeing needs.
A Little Herbal Wisdom
Aniseed has a rich history of use in Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and European herbal traditions. Its distinctive aroma and naturally sweet flavour come primarily from an essential oil constituent called anethole, which contributes to its traditional reputation as a warming, carminative herb.
For generations, Aniseed has been enjoyed after meals and incorporated into herbal teas, culinary preparations, and traditional botanical blends.
Please note: Aniseed is generally well tolerated in normal food amounts. Seek professional advice before using medicinal quantities during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you have a hormone-sensitive condition. Avoid if you have a known allergy to Aniseed or related plants in the Apiaceae family. This product is intended for herbal infusion, not for use as a concentrated essential oil.
At The Herbary, we believe that everyday wellbeing can be nurtured through simple, natural rituals and the wisdom of traditional herbal practice.
