Traditional herbal support during periods of fatigue
Supporting restful sleep and relaxation
Encouraging resilience, vitality, and overall wellbeing
Brewing Guide
Add approximately ½–1 teaspoon of dried Ashwagandha Root to 250ml of water. Bring to a gentle simmer, cover, and simmer for 15–20 minutes. Strain and enjoy warm.
Ashwagandha has a naturally earthy, slightly bitter flavour and can also be prepared with warm milk or a plant-based alternative, traditionally enjoyed as a comforting evening drink.
Enjoy another infusion: Your herbs can be simmered again 2–3 times. Simply add fresh water and allow a little extra brewing time with each preparation. The flavour and strength will gradually become milder.
Blending with Other Herbs
Ashwagandha Root can be enjoyed on its own or combined with complementary herbs to create a nourishing, restorative herbal blend. Traditionally, it pairs beautifully with herbs such as Oatstraw, Holy Basil, and Lemon Balm for relaxation, resilience, and everyday nervous system support.
For a warming evening preparation, Ashwagandha may also be combined with Cinnamon and Cardamom, creating a comforting, aromatic blend.
At The Herbary, we can help you explore herbal combinations suited to your individual wellbeing needs.
A Little Herbal Wisdom
Ashwagandha has been treasured in Ayurvedic herbal medicine for thousands of years and is traditionally classified as a Rasayana, a category of rejuvenating herbs associated with vitality, longevity, and resilience.
Its botanical name, Withania somnifera, reflects its traditional association with rest and relaxation, while the name Ashwagandha is often translated as "smell of a horse", referring to both the distinctive aroma of its roots and its traditional association with strength and vitality.
Please note: Ashwagandha should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Seek professional advice before use if you have a thyroid or autoimmune condition, liver disease, or take medication, particularly sedatives, thyroid medication, immunosuppressants, or medicines for blood pressure or blood sugar. Rare cases of liver injury have been reported with Ashwagandha-containing products. Discontinue use and seek medical advice if you develop symptoms such as yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, nausea, or unusual fatigue.
At The Herbary, we believe that everyday wellbeing can be nurtured through simple, natural rituals and the wisdom of traditional herbal practice.
